Project Development, Research
& Creative Direction

Inspired by the 19th century time-motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge and Étienne-Jules Marey, “Film to Form” is a set of generative form-finding tools designed to transcode archival media into digital volumetric forms. I use this and other tools like it in developing projects from digital illustrations to sculptural forms that are shaped - literally - and informed by the history and study of human labor, automation, and the natural world. Conflating the contradictory nature of images and concrete objects, these projects strive to excavate the temporal and spacial traces of objects and agents in motion.
